Membership Is open to anyone as a way of supporting our aim of securing a future for Lister Lane Cemetery as an accessible part of Halifax’s heritage.

There is no obligation on members to become practically involved, but both practical and moral support are equally welcome.
If you would like to support us by becoming a member, please copy the form and return to membership secretary.

On-site work:
Site sessions take place on the afternoon of the second Sunday of each month.
Anyone is welcome to visit on those occasions, and to lend a hand if they feel like it, or just walk round.
Additional sessions depend on volunteer enthusiasm. Any offers of help gratefully accepted.
Jobs include rubbish collection, path maintenance, brushwood clearing, documentation, encouragement of habitats and wild flower diversity, tidying war graves and graves of general or personal interest.

Meetings:
Meetings of the Friends committee are open to anyone.
Members and interested visitors welcome. Please look on the events page or contact the secretary for time and venue.

Data-base , Archive , Relatives.

We have a data-base to help visitors find relatives graves. Enquiries welcome. Burial records transcribed from the original books will be available eventually.
These can currently be accessed at Parkwood Crematorium.

If you have a relative recorded here but cannot visit, we may be able to locate the grave and send a photograph in exchange for a small donation to our funds.

The group is compiling a community archive of information about the history of the area, as seen through the stories of people buried at the cemetery, and of local residents.
We invite anyone with relatives buried here, or knowledge of the immediate area, to send us information about their relative’s life, for our records. These are made available for inspection on Heritage Open Day.

We would welcome help researching and organising this material.

Other Activities:
Occasional events, open days, nature management, profile-raising projects etc.
Additional helpers always welcome.

We intend to build on our capacity to provide guided tours. We can provide information for anyone wishing to become one of our guides.
