Visit to Sheffield Cemetery’s popular promenade theatre event, where mordant stories about the residents were enacted.


July 2006
saw Halifax’s Chartist Festival, the end result of our project to commemorate one of the cemetery’s residents- the weaver and Chartist Benjamin Rushton. A series of events ended with a memorial ceremony beside Rushton’s grave.

MAINTENANCE TO BE ARRANGED THROUGH CMBC FUNERAL SERVICES SECTION:
Two cuts to all boundary and centre paths – strim down at agreed dates. Remove (collected) rubbish as required. One cut for the whole of the Upper Section of the Cemetery and remove sapling growth – to coincide with September Open Day.


Clear Upper section of cemetery between Chapel and Gibbet Street Wall, remove all ivy, cut down saplings, fill in collapsed graves/vaults and create another accessible area of the cemetery.
